Moving house or workplace is a complicated task that requires proper planning.
Tasks must be planned out in advance and not left for the last moment. You’ll need to do it with time if you don’t want to mess with the hassle of last-minute surprises. For example, if you need to paint your new home, do it before you move in, while it’s still empty. You’ll save time and energy.
You should also wash all the clothes, curtains, rugs, etc. that you are going to pack. This way, you’ll just have to unpack and put them in place when you arrive to your new home.
And, of course, if you don’t know how to deal with it, ask for help. Here at Moving BCN we can help you disassemble, pack, organise and load all of your belongings in order to ensure that your health and peace of mind aren’t affected by the move.
Pack your belongings in a clean and orderly way. Label each box with its contents and the room where it belongs so that boxes can be delivered where they should go, making it much easier to find things.
Use the right packing materials:
Boxes – Use strong, new boxes. Don’t use too many different sizes; fill them completely and close them properly on all sides; label them with a detailed list of contents on several sides and mark which way is up. Use small boxes for heavy objects. Put small objects in bags before putting them in boxes. Use suitcases and garment removal boxes for clothes.
Fragile objects – Wrap them in tissue paper and bubble wrap and use a fragile sticker. Use rags or paper to keep them from moving. Newspaper can stain. .
Furniture – Disassemble any furniture you can to save space and remember that you’ll have to reassemble it later (put screws in a bag labelled with the name of the piece of furniture). Use moving blankets or bubble wrap. Cover the legs and corners to prevent damage during the move. Also use plastic covers for chairs, sofas and mattresses.
Appliances – Defrost the freezer two days before your move. Immobilise the tub of the washer so it isn’t damaged during the move. Secure all cables and protect the corners.
If, despite this advice, you still find moving home too much of a hassle or simply don’t have the time, with our new Move Advisor service you can avoid all the headaches and leave it all in our hands. Find out how!
